National Formulary (NF) Sweet Almond Oils
Sweet Almond Oil is a carrier and emollient with a high amount of olein, as well smaller proportions of linoleic acid. Similar to Olive Oil, Sweet Almond Oil improves the spreadability of creams, lotions and other oils. Sweet Almond Oil enhances the skin, leaving it smooth and soft.
Sweet almond oil NF is a preparation of the fixed oil obtained by expression from the seed of Prunus dulcis, the almond; used as an emollient, perfume, and oleaginous vehicle. It may be derived from either Prunus dulcis var. dulcis, the sweet almond, or Prunus dulcis var. amara (DC.), the bitter almond.

Sweet Almond Oils
Sweet Almond Oil, is an oil expressed from the nuts of the sweet almond tree. It is used as an emollient in skin creams and is also used to soften ear wax. The tree is native to SW Asia but is widely grown in warm regions for its nuts. Almond trees grow to an average height of 7 m; they have attractive pink flowers and are grown for ornament in cooler regions. The sweet almond oil, or Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis is pressed from the ripe seeds (nut) of the almond tree. It is a versatile, carrier oil, good for all skin types. Ground almonds make for excellent natural abrasives. Moist with Sweet Almond Oil, ground almonds help replenish the oils lost from the skin during the cleansing process; being rather soft in texture, they produce a gentle massaging effect in exfoliators. Almond Oil is very lubricating and can relieve itching and inflammation; a wonderful, natural moisturizer for 'dishpan' hands and chapped skin.
Almond Oil, Bitter An essential oil from the bitter almond tree. Typically used as a flavoring; it has a somewhat cherry scent and is often used in soaps products.
The Almond is a natural nut oil high in fatty acids. It is absorbed more easily than film-forming mineral oil. Almond oil is nearly colorless and odorless. Used in high quality soap and perfumes and cosmetic creams. It is distilled to remove hydrocyanic (prussic) acid.
Sweet almond oil is used as a moisturizer and as a carrier oil in aromatherapy. It is an effective emollient, softening and smoothing the skin. It is one of the most commonly used carrier oils because it does not leave a greasy residue. It is obtained from the dried kernel of the almond tree. The oil from the almond nut is rich in vitamin A and a superb natural moisturizer. Sweet Almond Oil is very beneficial for dry and mature skin, providing necessary moisture.

Refined Avocado Oils
Avocado oil has a light, but unique flavor that makes it an excellent choice for salad dressings or for use as a condiment. It is usually produced from avocados that are damaged or not aesthetically pleasing. Refined avocado oil has the highest smoke point of any plant oil, so it is useful for high heat cooking. It is a good source of monounsaturated fat and vitamin E, which makes it nutritionally beneficial. Avocado oil can be found in some specialty shops. Common Uses: high heat cooking, salad dressings, condiment.
The Avocado Oil is an oil expressed from the flesh of the avocado fruit. It is rich in vitamins A, B, G and E. It has a digestibility coefficient of 93.8% but has remained too costly to be utilized extensively as salad oil. The oil is used as hair-dressing and is employed in making facial creams, hand lotions and fine soap. It is said to filter out the tanning rays of the sun, is non-allergenic and is similar to lanolin in its penetrating and skin softening action. The pulp residue after oil extraction is usable as stockfeed.
Commonly used in the cosmetic industry because it soothes skin and helps transport active substances into the skin, Avocado Oil Cosmetic Grade USP has high concentrations of Vitamins A, D and E. Avocado Oil has the highest penetration rate among similar oils (corn, soybean, olive and almond) and is comprised mostly of oleic, linoleic, and linolenic acids, as well as palmitic and palmitoleic acids, lecithin, phytosterol and carnotinoids.
Avocado Oil is the oil expressed from the fleshy portion of the avocado fruit from the tree Persea americana.

Edible Beef Fat Oils
Beef tallow is obtained by rendering beef fat, the resultant product then being bleached, neutralised and deodorised (refined beef tallow). On the other hand, the product of fat that is simply rendered is known as 'edible beef tallow'.Beef tallow is obtained by means of a dry or wet rendering process. The wet rendering process is more gentle and delivers better yields. With the wet rendering process, offal from slaughterhouses undergoes coarse mechanical pulverising and is then steam-heated to a temperature of at least 90°C, breaking down and sterilising enzymes. Fat is then removed from the tissue. The water-fat mixture is then cooled and the fat (edible beef tallow) is separated. Further chemical-physical stages (bleaching, neutralisation, deodorisation) ultimately deliver a product known as ('refined) beef tallow'. Nowadays, the dry rendering process is uneconomical in terms of the energy that is required and it is rarely used.
Beef tallow is a whitish (beef tallow) or whitish to yellow (edible beef tallow) substance. It is solid at 20°C and gives off a mild odour. It is not water-soluble, but it is soluble in organic solvents. The main components in both fats are: oleic, palmitic, stearic, palmitoleic, linoleic and myristic acid. Other fatty acids account for <1% of the product.
The USA is by far the biggest producer and exporter of beef tallow, with production accounting for approx. 25 to 30% of global oil and fat production. In the past, beef tallow was used in early cultures for lighting (woodchips soaked in beef tallow) soaps and ointments. Today, beef tallow is a major raw material used in the production of chemical intermediate products, such as fatty acids and fat alcohols. In addition to its principal uses in edible fats and oils, beef tallow is also used as baking and cooking fat, as well as in margarine production, which involves small amounts. With its similar fatty acid spectrum, beef tallow was formerly used to stretch cocoa butter.
We also sell other Animal Fats & Oil, including edible fats and oil for Pharmaceutical, Cosmetic, Personal Care, Food, Ink, Paint, Coatings, Adhesive, Lubricant & Soap Industries.
Edible Beef Fat is obtained by heat rendering of tissues (cuttings and trimmings) from beef, which is then refined, bleached and deodorized. -
Canola Oils
What is Canola Oil?
Canola is a specifically bred variety of rapeseed and is part of the mustard (or Brassica) family whose other members include broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, kale and mustard greens. Canola oil contains a fatty acid profile of: 5% saturated fat, 57% monounsaturated acid (oleic acid), 23% polyunsaturated omega-6 and 10–15% polyunsaturated omega-3. It is thought that its high oleic acid content (similar to levels found in olive oil), low saturated fat content and relatively high omega-3 content make canola oil particularly beneficial for heart health.
How was Canola Oil developed?
In the late 1970s, canola was bred from rapeseed to contain low amounts of erucic acid, a long chain fatty acid that had been associated with detrimental health effects in animal studies. The new oil was referred to as LEAR oil (Low Erucic Acid Rapeseed) or Canola oil (from Canadian oil low acid, since most canola oil was grown in Canada).
What is Erucic Acid?
Erucic acid is a 22-carbon fatty acid that is present in all members of the Brassica family in trace amounts. Erucic acid constitutes 40%-50% of the fatty acid content in rapeseed, however canola has been bred to typically contain less than 2% erucic acid. Because of this, canola oil is thought to have a more neutral taste and to be healthier for human consumption. Note that erucic acid is not all bad: for individuals with the wasting disease adrenoleukodystrophy, erucic acid is actually helpful with treatment and was the lifesaving ingredient of Lorenzo's oil.
Is Canola an industrial oil?
Whereas it is true that Canola Oil can be used as an industrial oil (as an insecticide, lubricant, fuel, in soap, rubber and ink), this does not mean that the food form of canola is dangerous for human consumption or inedible. Many oils besides canola have been used as both industrial and edible oils, depending on how they are prepared. For example, coconut oil is used in many industrial products, including soaps and cosmetics, and flaxseed oil is used in paints and linoleum. Vegetables oils can be processed to make industrial chemicals, however the food forms of these oils are all safe.
Does Canola oil become rancid very quickly?
In general, vegetable oils with higher quantities of polyunsaturated fatty acids are more susceptible to rancidity than saturated fatty acids. In order to avoid rancid oil, it is recommended that all oils, including canola, be consumed before their expiration date. Storing oil in a cool, dark place will also decrease susceptibility to rancidity.
Canola oil is the fixed oil obtained from the seed of the cultivars of Brassica napus and Brassica campestris which are genetically low in both erucic acid and glucosinolates.

Corn oil is also one source of biodiesel. Biodiesel is commonly made from soybeans, but as corn oil refining technology improves, it will become a greater source of biodiesel and a backup source in case of large-scale soybean crop failures. Other industrial uses for corn oil include soap, salve, paint, rustproofing for metal surfaces, inks, textiles, and insecticides. It is sometimes used as a carrier for drug molecules in pharmaceutical preparations.

Neatsfoot Oils
Neatsfoot oil is a yellow oil rendered and purified from the feet and shin bones (not the hooves) of cattle. It is used as a conditioning, softening and preservative for leather, and remains liquid down to a low temperature.
Neatsfoot oil is produced much less than it once was. Currently, the shins and feet of cattle are usually rendered along with the rest of the body. Also, many products sold as neatsfoot oil are actually diluted with petroleum oil, which is bad for leather.
The best quality neatsfoot oil comes from the legs of calves. The fat in animals' legs generally has a lower melting point than the body fat which means that it is more fluid and easier to use at lower temperatures making it more effective for treating leather.
'Neat' in the oil's name comes from an old term for animals of the genus Bos, especially cattle.
Our company is an animal oil wholesaler in business since 1838. Contact us today for competitive prices, and products made better by modern technology, and more stringent quality controls.

(2)Acid Fats - Fatty Oil - Supplier and Wholesaler
Our company has been providing fatty acids, fats and oils since 1838. We are a well established company dedicated to quality products at very competitive prices. Please contact us for more information on our fatty acids, oils and fats.
Fatty Acids are organic, monobasic acids derived from hydrocarbons by the equivalent of oxidation of a methyl group to an alcohol, aldehyde, and then acid. Fatty acids are saturated and unsaturated (fatty acids, unsaturated).
Our company offers ricinoleic acids, dehydrated castor fatty acids, and oleic acids, such as white olein and red oils.
Fatty Acids - Oleic Acids -- WHC 401
The OLEIC ACID, QsHaA, or C8HI7-CH:CH- [CH2]7 CO2 H, is an organic acid occurring as a glyceride, triolein, in nearly all fats, and in many oils, olive, almond, cod-liver, etc.
It appears as a by-product in the manufacture of candles. To prepare oleic acid, the olive oil is saponified with potash, and lead acetate added; the lead salts are separated, dried, and extracted with ether, which dissolves the lead oleate; the solution is then treated with hydrochloric acid, the lead chloride filtered off, the liquid concentrated, and finally distilled under diminished pressure.
Oleic acid is a colorless, odourless solid, melting at 14 and boiling at 223 (10 mm.). On exposure it turns yellow, becoming rancid. Nitric acid oxidizes it to all the fatty acids from acetic to capric. Nitrous acid gives the isomeric elaidic acid, C8H17-CH:CH-(CH2]7-C02H, which is crystalline and melts at 51. Hydriodic acid reduces both oleic and elaidic acids to stearic acid.

National Formulary (NF) Edible Olive Oils
Our company supplies oils and fats, such as the olive oil, for various utilizations and industries, from pharmaceutical grade, to foods, and to lubricants. Please see below some general information on the olive oil.
The olive oil has many uses since ancient times. Among global producers, Spain leads with more than 40% of world production, followed by Italy and Greece. Much of the Spanish crop is exported to Italy, where it is both consumed and repackaged for sale abroad as Italian olive oil. Although boutique groceries sell high-quality Spanish olive oil at a premium, Italian olive oil has the popular reputation for quality. However, chefs will often attest to the superior qualities of Greek olive oil. Incidentally, of these three competitors, Greece has the longest tradition of using the olive tree as a food source.
Olive oil is regarded as a healthful dietary oil because of its high content of monounsaturated fat (mainly Oleic acid) and polyphenols.
Olive Oil is the fixed oil obtained from the ripe fruit of Olea europaea Linn‚. (Fam. Oleaceae).

National Formulary (NF) Refined Peanut Oils
Peanut oil is derived from peanuts, noted to have the slight aroma and taste of its parent nut. It is often used in Southeast Asian cuisine much like olive oil is used in the Mediterranean for frying, cooking, salad oils, margarine, etc.
Peanut is the name for a low, annual leguminous plant (Arachis hypogaea) of the family Leguminosae (pulse family) and for its edible seeds. Native to South America and cultivated there for millenia, it is said to have been introduced to Africa by early explorers, and Africans transported as slaves brought the plant with them to North America. In the United States it has been extensively cultivated only since the late 19th century. It is now grown in most tropical, subtropical, and temperate regions, especially in India and China (the major world producers), W Africa, and the SE United States. The seeds-peanuts -are eaten fresh or roasted and are used in cookery and confectionery. They are ground for peanut butter, an important article of commerce, and yield an oil used for margarine, cooking oil, soap manufacture, and industrial purposes. The herbage is used for hay, the residue from oil extraction (called peanut-oil cakes) for stock feed, and the whole plant, left in the ground, as pasturage for swine. Peanut crops are usually harvested by hand except in the United States. Europe is the chief importer and processor, especially for oil manufacture. In the United States the amount of the crop converted to oil depends on the demand for whole peanuts; it is usually only 15% to 20%. Because of its numerous uses, high protein content, and adaptability to varying demand, the peanut is an advantageous agricultural crop. There are two types of peanut plant—bunch nuts and vine, or trailing, nuts-named for the way the plants grow. The peanut plant is unusual for its habit of geocarpy: when the pod starts to form, it is pushed into the ground by the elongation of its stalk and matures underground. Other names for the peanut are goober, pinder, earthnut, groundnut, and ground pea.
This high quality Peanut Oil is extremely difficult to obtain, because almost all Peanut Oil has traces of Cottonseed Oil and is not guaranteed by the large refineries to be completely free from Cottonseed Oil. The presence of Cottonseed Oil, even in small quantities, violates the specifications of the U.S. Pharmacopoeia.
Our Peanut Oil U.S.P. fully meets U.S.P. specifications in every respect.
Peanut Oil is an excellent food oil, with good flavor, and keeping quality. Our U.S.P. Peanut Oil is extremely lighy in color - far lighter than the usual good Edible Peanut Oil. Peanut Oil contains only a small proportion of nonglyceride constituents. Its fatty acid composition is complex, including saturated fatty acids covering a wide range of molecular weights.
Linolenic Acid appears to be entirely absent. Traces of eicosenoic acid have been found. The unsaponifiable portion of Peanut Oil includes tocopherols and other anti-oxidents, sterols, squalene, and other hydrocarbons. Total tocopherol content ranges from 0.022 to 0.059 percent. Squalene content is about 0.027 percent.
Peanut Oil is the refined fixed oil obtained from the seed kernels of one or more of the cultivated varieties of Arachis hypogaea Linn‚ (Fam. Leguminosae).

Refined Rapeseed Oils
Oil seeds and their products are the most valuable agricultural crops in the world trade. Oil crops are processed into products by utilizing their seeds or the product derived by a partial removal of one of the major seed components. Some products are obtained by isolating the oil component of the seed, thereby increasing the concentration of main components, usually proteins. Extraction of oil is one of the major aspects involved in oilseed processing.
Rapeseed oil production occupies third place in the world production of vegetable and marine oils. It ranks fifth in production of oilseed proteins. Rapeseed is one of the major oilseed crops in the Far East and in Northern Europe and North America. Rapeseed is mainly used for oil production; also byproducts of oil extraction are used in animal feed. The oil content of the seed ranges from 33.2 to 47.6% (8.5% moisture basis) and yields 29.5 to 57.5% protein (oil-free/defatted meal, 8.5% moisture basis).
Rapeseed and canola oils come from the same genus of plants but different species. Rapeseed / canola seed is obtained from Brassica campestris and Brassica napus.
However, the processing of these two oils are similar, thus the term rapeseed and canola are used interchangeably in this case.
Rapeseed oil is the fixed oil obtained from the seed of the cultivars of Brassica napus and Brassica campestris. -
Edible Ricebran Oils
Rice bran oil is the oil extracted from the germ and inner husk of rice. It is notable for its very high smoke point of 490° F (254 C) and its mild flavor, making it suitable for high-temperature cooking methods such as stir frying and deep frying.
Rice bran oil contains a range of fats, with 47% of its fats monounsaturated, 33% polyunsaturated, and 20% saturated. The oil may also offer some health benefits, as it contains oryzanol, an antioxidant that may help prevent heart attacks; phytosterols, compounds believed to help lower cholesterol absorption; and relatively high amounts of vitamin E.
Rice bran, which is obtained in the milling process, is the part of the rice that is richest in fat. This natural oil, which is expeller pressed, has the presence of natural antioxidants which makes it an excellent ingredient for food grade products.
Rice Bran is full of antioxidants, such as Vitamin E, ferulic acid, linolic acid, oleic acid, palmitic acid and oryzanol. The oil acts as both a carrier and emollient and is available in several forms: extract, oil and wax.
In Japan, Rice Bran Oil is used as a skin and hair beauty enhancer. It also used throughout the world in a variety of cosmetics, especially those that treat dry, mature skin.
Rice Bran Oil is truly "The World's Healthiest" edible oil, containing vitamins, antioxidants, nutrients and trans fat free. It's not just delicate and flavorful, it can help lower cholesterol, fight diseases, enhance the immune system, fight free radicals and more. Rice Bran Oil is extremely light, versatile and delicious. Use it to fry, sauté, in salad dressings, baking, dipping oils and where ever you use cooking oil. Once you use it you will be amazed cooking light and healthy is also the best tasting.
Rice bran oil is vastly superior to traditional cooking oils and can be considered a nutraceutical (food as medicine) oil that is perfect for all your healthy cooking needs. Rice Bran Oil is quickly becoming a favorite in commercial frying to replace hydrogenated oils that contain trans fat. This is due to rice bran oils health, flavor and performance benefits.
Ricebran oil is the fixed oil extracted from bran obtained in making white or polished rice (which is actually the endosperm of the seed of Oryza sativa L., Gramineae).

Ricinoleic Acids
Fatty Acids - Ricinoleic Acids - WHC 501
Ricinoleic Acid (12-hydroxy-9-octadecenoic acid), obtained by the hydrolysis of castor oil, is a light colored liquid with a ricinoleic content of approximately 90 percent. This product is most noted for its use in coatings, plastics, personal items, inks and cosmetics.
Ricinoleic Acid is derived by either saponifying or hydrolyzing castor oil. -
Edible Safflower Oils
Safflower oil is pressed from the seeds of the safflower plant (Carthamus tinctorius), which is cultivated in India. The plant also yields a fugitive dyestuff. The oil is rather slow-drying, and when it is polymerized by heating, it gels. It has been used in India, under the name Roghan, for decorative painting. The plant is now cultivated in the United States, where the oil is used as a polyunsaturated cooking oil and, in combination with synthetic resins, as a binder for industrial paints. Safflower oil, like poppyseed oil, contains linoleic acid but very little or no linolenic acid, the ingredient that is thought to cause both the yellowing and the strong film-making quality of linseed oil. Safflower oil is lighter in color than linseed oil, and so white paints ground with it appear whiter than do those with linseed oil. Many manufacturers use safflower oil in their white oil paints instead of grinding them in linseed oil or poppyseed oil, claiming that the safflower oil whites change color less than do those made with linseed oil.
Safflower Oil is the refined fixed oil obtained from the seed of Carthamus tinctorius Linn‚ (Fam. Compositae).

United States Pharmacopeia (USP) Edible Safflower Oils
Our company supplies Safflower oil, as well as other fats and oils and has been in the oil business since 1838.
General information about the Safflower oil.
The safflower oil is a light, odorless, flavorless and colorless cold-pressed oil made from white seeds of the safflower plant. Safflower oil contains more polyunsaturates than any other vegetable oil, and it has a high smoke point making it ideal for deep frying, and is favored for salad dressing because it does not solidify when chilled. However, safflower oil lacks vitamin E, making it less nutritional than other oils on the market. Since the safflower oil is odorless, light, and quick to absorb, it is becoming more popular and favored in the skincare field.

National Formulary (NF) Refined Sesame Oils
Expeller pressed from the seeds of the Seasamum Indicum plant, this oil is yellow in color and used in shortenings, salad oil, margarine and similar food products.
Sesame Oil is a carrier oil with many of the same emollient properties olive oil, as well as other nut and vegetable oils. Used most often in cosmetics and suntan products, Sesame Oil is high in Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin E, calcium, magnesium and phosphorous.
Sesame Oil is a stable product which contains a natural antioxidant system that is made up of sesamol and sesamolinol thus significantly reducing the rate of oxidation.
Sesame oil is high in polyunsaturated fat, the 4th behind safflower, soybean, and corn. There are two basic forms: light and dark. Extracted from SESAME SEED, sesame oil comes in two basic types. One is light in color and flavor and has a deliciously nutty nuance. It's excellent for everything from salad dressings to sautéing. The darker, Asian sesame oil has a much stronger flavor and fragrance and is used as a flavor accent for some Asian dishes. Its average SMOKE POINT is 420°F, making it excellent for frying. Thick, amber-colored, and aromatic, dark sesame oil is made from roasted sesame seeds. Dark sesame oil burns easily and loses flavor when overheated, so it is used mostly as a condiment or flavoring for dressings, soups, and stir-frys.
Asian sesame oil, from China and Japan, is made from roasted seeds and has an amber color and a full, rich flavor. Its low smoking temperature makes it unsuitable for using alone for cooking; it is used almost exclusively as a seasoning. This amber colored, aromatic oil, made from pressed and toasted sesame seeds, is a popular ingredient in Chinese cooking. Not for use as a cooking oil, however, as the flavor is too intense and it burns quite easily. Instead, sesame oil is normally added as a flavoring agent in the final stages of cooking.

Raw Tung Oils
Tung Oil is pressed from the nuts of Tung tree is known also as China wood oil and nut oil. Major producing countries are mainland China (Guizhou, Guangxi , Sichuan , Hubei, Hunan, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Jiangxi, Henan ) and South America (Argentina and Paraguay), United States and Africa . Tung tree farms in the southern U. S. and Argentina now supply tung oil, formerly available only from China. The oil is still known in some circles as "China wood oil". Tung oil is an ideal "binder" or "vehicle", carrying the resins and driers deep into the pores of the wood so that sealer and finish coats practically become part of the wood - drying into an armor-like yet beautiful surface.
Tung oil tree (Aleurites fordii), a deciduous shade tree native to China. It belongs to the Euphorbia Family (Euphorbiaceae) along with the candlenut tree (A molucanna), another species with seeds rich in unsaturated oils. For centuries tung oil has been used for paints and waterproof coatings, and as a component of caulk and mortar. It is an ingredient in ink and is commonly used for a lustrous finish on wood. Some woodworkers consider tung oil to be one of the best natural finishes for wood. Other unsaturated plant oils, such as castor oil and linseed oil, take longer to dry and leave an oily residue until they soak into the wood surface. Tung oil 's ability to dry quickly and polymerize into a tough, glossy, waterproof coating has made it especially valuable in paints, varnishes, linoleum, oilcloth and printing inks.
Drupaceous fruit and seeds of the tung oil tree. The oil-rich seeds are produced inside a thick, woody endocarp layer and are the source of tung oil used on fine furniture.
The pit of a peach (Prunus persica) showing the seed that is contained inside the hard, woody endocarp layer. The endocarp is the inner layer of the fruit wall or pericarp. It is surrounded by a fleshy mesocarp and a thin outer skin or exocarp. Fruits with an endocarp layer surrounding the seed are called drupes or drupaceous. The endocarp protects and aids in the dispersal of the vulnerable seed, especially when it is swallowed by a hungry herbivore. Tung oil is composed primarily of eleostearic (elaeostearic) acid, with smaller amounts of oleic, linoleic and palmitic glycerides. Eleostearic acid is a crystalline unsaturated fatty acid that exists in 2 stereoisomeric forms: An alpha acid occurring as the glycerol ester especially in tung oil, and a beta acid obtained from the alpha acid by irradiation. The chemical structure of tung oil eleostearic acid
The largest application for the oil is paint and varnish , and also wide utilized by soap ,inks, electrical insulators, furniture, shipbuilding, etc. For 600 years the Chinese have treated boat timbers with tung oil.
For 600 years the Chinese have treated boat timbers with tung oil. Tung oil, was used to waterproof Chinese ships as long ago as the 14th century. The thin, transparent oil penetrates deep into wood pores, forming an almost permanent seal against moisture because it never loses its elasticity. Tung Oil is the world's oldest and best wood preservative. It was grown in China for many centuries before its introduction into Europe and the America, where it is now grown most notably in America.
We recommend Tung Oil instead of linseed oil, varnish, lacquer or shellac preparations for the following reasons:
Tung Oil is easy to work with and protects by penetrating the wood surface, leaving no streaking or brush marks. Tung Oil offers a protective barrier against water, stains, abrasions and wear. Tung Oil will not darken with age, as other finishes will.
Tung Oil will not mildew - linseed oil will. Linseed oil "bleeds" out too excessively for a satisfactory finish. Tung Oil Finish dries clear to allow the wood's natural beauty to come through. The look is natural, hand-rubbed, classic; perfect for fine furniture.

It is obtained by pressing, followed by an optional stage of solvent extraction. Cold-pressed oil obtained without solvent extraction is marketed as flaxseed oil. It is suitable for human consumption, though not recommended for cooking and is used as a nutritional supplement which is high in omega-3 fatty acids, especially alpha-linolenic acid, and relatively low in omega-6 fatty acids, allowing it to be used to lower the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 oils in the diet, which may have health benefits.
Boiled linseed oil was used as a paint binder or as a wood finish on its own. Heating the oil makes it polymerize or oxidise more readily, effectively shortening the drying time. Today most products labeled as "boiled linseed oil" are a combination of raw linseed oil, petroleum-based solvent and metallic dryers. The use of metallic dryers makes boiled linseed oil inedible. There are some products available that contain only heat-treated linseed oil. These are usually labeled as "polymerized" oils though some may still be labeled as boiled.
As a wood finish, it does not cover the surface as varnish does, but soaks into the (visible and microscopic) pores, leaving a shiny but not glossy surface that shows off the grain. Wood treated with linseed oil only is resistant to denting, and scratches are easily repaired, but the wood and oil surface is not as hard as a modern varnish, and it slowly absorbs moisture if allowed to stay wet. Soft wood benefits from the protection from denting but requires more applications and even more drying time than harder wood does, if the grain is to be completely filled. The oil penetrates deeply and fills the grain, because it dries slowly and shrinks little or not at all on hardening. It is a traditional finish for gun stocks, however a very fine finish may require months to obtain. Oiled wood is yellowish and darkens with age.
Oil painting medium: Includes such varieties as Cold Pressed, Bleached and Refined. The linoleic acid in linseed oil is used as a dietary supplement.
Linseed oil has a special cultural place in cricket playing countries as treatment for the raw willow wood used to make cricket bats. -
B Grade and Edible Pure Olive Oil
Olive oil has a very distinctive flavor, and has become more prominent in American cooking today. Grades of olive oils are determined by the methods of extraction and the acid content of the resulting oil. Virgin olive oils are those obtained from the first pressing of the olive without further refinement.
The finest olive oil is extra virgin, with an acid content of 1%. Following this are superfine at 1.5%, fine at 3%, and virgin at 4%. Pure olive oils are those which have been extracted by heat. These are of 100% olive oil, but their flavor can result in a harsh, bitter aftertaste. Pomace olive oil is refined from the final pressings and under heat and pressure. The taste is inferior to other olive oils and should never be substituted for them. Olive oil becomes rancid very easily, more so when exposed to heat or light. Always store tightly sealed in a cool, dark place.
Today`s marketplace provides a wide selection of domestic olive oil (most of which comes from California) and imported oils from France, Greece, Italy and Spain. The flavor, color and fragrance of olive oils can vary dramatically depending on distinctions such as growing region and the crop`s condition. -
